THE TRUTH ABOUT VOWS, TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Many churches challenge people to make vows and tithe, and so do I. The reason is actually quite simple...it's God's Word...His plan for man.
God Himself initiated the covenant with Abraham who in turn vowed to put Him first in all that he did. Isaac, Jacob, Job, and Hannah are just a few of the others who made vows of faith. Vowing always was, and still is, an _expression of trust and dependence on the Lord. It provides a means for releasing our faith and focusing on God, and that is Scriptural.
I want you to have working knowledge of vowing and tithing and the Bibical power is available to you and your loved ones through vowing and tithing. Here are some questions people most frequently ask on the subjects of vowing.
When I make a vow, I prefer to do it for my church. Isn't that as good as making a vow of faith to God through other ministries I am involved with? You should give to the ministry that feeds your spirit. Pay your bill (give tithes and give offerings) where you are getting good, solid, spiritual food. Do you go to one restaurant for a meal and then go to another to pay your check? Also we should scatter our seed for mazimum results for the kingdom of God. (Proverbs 11:24).
My faith isn't strong enough. Shouldn't I have more faith before I vow?
Your faith will grow as you exercise it. Muscles in the body shrink and weaken when not used. Unused, untried faith shrivels and dies (James 2:17). To vitalize your faith, you have to use it. You have to step out in faith if you want your faith to be strong.
The business of vowing sounds like you're trying to "buy" God. Sometimes it sounds like you're buying God but you're not. I just know what the Bible says. Actually, you are giving a thanksgiving offering in advance of His blessings to come. God knows your heart and the right spirit and attitude in which you make vows and offerings. If your attitude is right and you act in obedience, God will honor that (Job 22:27-28).
My spouse does not want me to make a vow. What can I do? Pray about it and commit to the Lord. He can change your spouse's heart (Proverbs 21:1). Ask God for direction and wisdom, and wait on Him.
What if I make a vow and cannot pay it? This kind of questioning is doubtful thinking. God will give you seed to sow a little at a time. If you do not believe, you should not make a vow. But if you do believe, you should pay it as God provides (Ecclesiastes 5:4). Our vows and offering are pleasing to the Lord.
Can I pay my vow with my tithe? Tithes and vows are two completely different things. The tithe belongs to God and it is what you owe in thanksgiving for past blessings. It's what God demands to keep the church alive.
Testimony! Breakthrough: $90,000 In One Week!
Jeanne stayed home to do some ironing that day instead of going to work at her job as a "temporary" or her volunteer work in the Clown Town Ministry. If her husband John's investment firm didn't start turning a profit, she would have to take a full time job.
She was watching a Chrisian show when the Lord told her to make a $100 pledge and leave the rest up to Him. One week later, after four "dry" months of going it alone, John grossed $90,000 in investment sales.
He said his business would never be a success without giving to God.
The devil wants you to be broke, discouraged, sick, defeated, and believing that the promises of God work for everybody else but you. Would you like to walk in divine health, experience abundant prosperity and personal success?
Think carefull about this story. A man comes home from a business trip with ten $10 bills. His son whom he loves greets him. The man gives his son, nine of the ten, only keeping one ten dollar bill for himself. While the man is sleeping his son enters his bedroom and takes the remaining $10 bill off the dresser. This would make the man's son an ungrateful thief.
The father in this trip represents God and He loves you as His child. He is willing to give you nine of the ten $10 bills....He only wants one...the tenth...the tithe. Make no mistake about it...the tithe is holy and it belongs to God.
...all the tithe of tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD Leviticus 27:30.
In this Scripture "holy" means sacred and set apart for God's use. Its His. Period! That's the bottom line and the rest of the story.
"Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, In what way do we rob or defraud You? (You have withheld your) tithes and offerings. You are cursed with the curse, for you are robbing Me, even this whole nation.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I willnot open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.(Malachi 3:10). I am the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O son's of Jacob, are not consumed." Malachi 3:6.
In Numbers 18:31 God tells us that the tithe is the reward for service (ministering) in the tent of the meeting (church). We cannot expect to go to a doctor, counselor, or anyone who provides a service without payment rendered for their service. Whoever does service for the Lord, He has given the tithe as an inheritance in return for their service (Numbers 18:21). Without the tithe there would be no churches, no ministers, no servants of God, and satan would devour your soul.
"Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High, and call on me in the day of trouble: and I will deliver you, and you will honor me"
Psalm 50:14-50. If you want to be delivered in your time of trouble, God says pay your vows. Its as simple as that!
We neglect and forsake the house of our God when we refuse to tithe and vow (Nehemiah 10:38-39). When we make vows and tithe we make God our financial partner and He blesses our money situation. This act of honoring God we put Him first, ahead of our money...then money comes instead of goes.
God does not delight in burnt offerings and sin offerings as thought in the days of Old, according to the Law. These offerings did not release the guilt and shame that enveloped us, our sins that took us away from Him before the breaking of the curtain wall...The day Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead.
Jesus Christ offered Himself as a single sacrifice for our sins on the cross and sat down at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:10-12). We do not vow and tithe as a sacrifice for our sins, for that is finished! We tithe to keep God's command to pay His servants for the service of the Lord. We vow as an "act" of faith!
"Without faith is it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must (necessarily) believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnesty and diligently seek Him (out)" (Hebrews 11:6).
Faith says, "God is my provider, He is my rewarder, He has healed me, He has given me prosperity in abundance." And with this unyielding faith God moves and makes it your reality.
If you have a problem in your life it isn't the problem that is causing all the trouble, its your lack of faith. With lack of faith you'll need to vow so God can prove you.
Do not let satan confuse you on this issue or he will devour your well laid plans.
If you tithe and give offerings, He will...not might...but He will "Pour out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." And even more significantly, in Malachi 3:11 the Word of God says, "And I will rebuke the devourer (insects and plagues) for your sakes and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall you vine drop its fruit before the time in the field, says the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you happy and blessed, for you shall be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts Malachi 3:11-12).
You shall be blessed...now look at this:
If you DO TITHE...
* The wondows of heaven are open for you.
* Blessings will be poured on you.
* There shall be room enough to contain the blessings.
* The devourer will be rebuked for your sake.
* The enemy shall not destroy the fruits of your labor.
* You shall be called blessed by all the nations.
Another thing of importance! Jesus recognized the importance of tithing. "But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every (little) herb, but disregard and neglect justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, without leaving the others undone" (Luke 11:42)
"In addition, he (Hezekiah) required the people in Jerusalem to bring their tithes to the priests and Levites, so that they wouldn't need other employment but could apply themselves fully to their duties as required in the command of God. The people responded immediately and generously with the first of their crops and grain, new wine, olive oil, money, and everything else - a tithe of all they owned as commanded, to be given to the Lord their God" 2 Chronicles 31:4-5.
Vow Brings Retire A Car That 'Runs Perfect'
When the engine of Walter's 1973 Volkswagen blew up, he decided it wasn't worth repair. He needed transportation, but his retirement pension wouldn't stretch to cover car payments. Because Walter believes the Lord is his Source, he made a $100 vow. A woman from his church bought him a Chevy that runs so well he even drove it from Indiana to Florida. He says, "It runs pefect, God answers prayers."
Don't be decieved! Tithe's and offerings are powerful. Many churches believe the tithe went out with the Old Testament, and many people scoff...but observe what Mark observed in verse 41-44. "Jesus sat down opposite the treasury in the synagogue and saw how the people were "casting" money into the treasure. Many rich (people) were "throwing in large sums.
And a widow who was poverty-stricken came and put in two copper mights (the smalles of coins), which together make half of a cent. And He (Jesus) called His disciples (to Him) and said to them, Truly and surely I tell you, this widow, (she who is) poverty-stricken, has put in more than all those contibuting to the treasury.
For they all "threw" in out of their abundance; but she, out of her deep poverty, has put in everything that she had--(even) all she had on which to live." This was pleasing in the sight of Jesus, for her faith proved strong. This is the New Testament speaking...your tithe is important to God...It proves your faith in Him.
I tell you the truth! It was tithe's and offerings that saved my soul, long before I knew Christ. Each time I tithed miracles popped up like corks in a lake. My faith grew and abounded in God as I tithed for the things I needed. Prayers were answered exactly the way I expected, and amazingly in a very short time. Our Father Who art in heaven said "prove Me", so I proved Him and He showed through with flying colors. By simply following God's plan for salvation, tithing can save your soul too.
When you change your mindset and become a tither, God will see you as a giver and you'll reap His greatest rewards. You'll never be happy unless you do as God instructs. You'll never be happy about yourself unless you get rid of the guilt you hold from keeping God's ten percent. He is generous and gives us 90% of what we earn, all that He asks is that we give 10% to help others minister His Words. Without ministers of His Word, you'll not find salvation, nor gain memory of your Truely, Loving Father.
I want this year to be a YEAR OF MIRACLE MANIFESTATION IN YOUR LIFE. If you don't tithe...START TODAY.
CONFESSION OF THE MOUTH
Philippians 4:19 - My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Confess this with me: I seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and the things that I have need of are added unto me, because my God abundantly supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen!
If you don't believe me about tithe's and offerings, pay a tithe or offering, Prove God and see for yourself. Check out His credibility and see if He doesn't open the windows of heaven and pour blessings down upon you. He is no respector of persons. By faith you will receive, Guaranteed!
Deuteronomy 14:22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Luke 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
Hebrews 7:6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
Hebrews 7:8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
Hebrews 7:9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
